TREATMENT TRUTHS

The Honest Reality About Aesthetic Treatments

Before you book anything, read this. These are the truths that some clinics won’t tell you — but I will. Because managing expectations isn’t just good practice, it’s essential for your satisfaction and safety.

Filters Aren’t Real Life

Photoshop, Facetune, and Instagram filters aren’t real. What an app does in 3 seconds isn’t surgically possible — and definitely not with injectables.

But here’s what I want you to do instead: find photos of yourself when you felt and looked your best. Unfiltered. Real lighting. Real angles. Maybe it was 5 years ago, maybe 10. That version of you — refreshed, rested, confident — that’s what we’re aiming for.

I don’t want you to look like someone else. I want you to look like you, at your best. That’s what achievable, beautiful results look like.

Bring those photos to your consultation. Let’s talk about what made you feel confident then, and how we can help you feel that way again now.

Your Face Needs Balance

Constantly treating one area while ignoring others creates imbalance. If you’re getting Botox in your forehead every 3 months but never addressing volume loss in your cheeks, your smooth forehead will start making your lower face look heavier and more aged by comparison.

Your face ages as a whole — treating it in parts doesn’t work long-term. That’s why I take a layered, full-face approach. We assess everything and create balance, even if we’re only treating one area to start.

Think of it like renovating one room in your house while the rest falls apart. Eventually, the contrast becomes the problem.

Skincare Shouldn’t Be Optional

What’s the point in investing in Botox and fillers but refusing to wear SPF or use skincare that actually makes a difference — and then expecting lasting results? You’re undoing your investment before it even has a chance to work.

Botox relaxes muscles — it doesn’t improve skin quality. If your skin is dehydrated, sun-damaged, or lacking collagen, Botox alone won’t give you glowing, youthful skin. You need to treat the skin itself with medical-grade skincare, SPF, and treatments like microneedling or skin boosters.

I don’t upsell skincare for profit. I recommend it because without it, your results won’t be as good or last as long. It’s that simple.

Bruising and Swelling Are Normal

Even with injectables — which are minimally invasive — bruising and swelling can happen. And how long they last varies based on the treatment area, your pre- and post-care, and your genetics.

Some people walk out with zero bruising. Others look like they’ve been in a boxing match for a week. Both are completely normal.

This is your face we’re working with — there are blood vessels, delicate tissue, and natural healing processes at play. I do everything possible to minimize bruising (technique, ice, aftercare guidance), but I can’t guarantee you’ll have none.

So don’t book lip filler the day before your wedding. Don’t get tear trough filler right before that big presentation. Give yourself at least 2 weeks before any major event where you need to look your absolute best.

Plan accordingly, and you’ll avoid the stress of trying to cover up bruises on the day that matters most.

Your Expectations Matter

I can technically perform a treatment, but if your goals don’t match reality, neither of us will be happy.

If your “wish pic” looks nothing like you — different bone structure, different proportions, completely different features — you probably won’t look like your wish pic. And that’s not a failure of treatment. That’s biology.

I’m here to enhance YOUR features and make you look like the best version of yourself — not to make you look like someone else.

Realistic expectations = beautiful, satisfying results. Unrealistic expectations = disappointment, even with perfect technique.

You Can’t Exercise Your Way Out of Skin Laxity

No amount of face yoga, barre classes, or pilates is going to tighten loose skin or rebuild lost collagen the way treatments like Sculptra, microneedling, or laser can.

Exercise is incredible for your overall health and wellbeing. But it won’t reverse the effects of gravity, aging, or sun damage on your skin. That requires intervention — whether that’s injectables, energy-based devices, or surgical lifting.

If face yoga worked as well as Botox, I’d be out of a job.

Cheapest Is Rarely Safest

I’m all about transparency around pricing. But if you’re bargain shopping for aesthetic treatments or surgery, you may be disappointed — or worse, unsafe.

Cut-price injectables often mean:

  • Inexperienced practitioners
  • Diluted or counterfeit products
  • No follow-up care or complications support
  • Practices cutting corners on safety and hygiene
  • Paying double the price to correct unwanted results

You get what you pay for. This is your face. Your health. Your confidence. Invest accordingly. Choose your bargains wisely — clothes, holidays, home décor. Not your face.

When you book with me, you’re paying for expertise, quality products, safety protocols, and someone who will be there if something goes wrong. Not just the cheapest price.

The Bottom Line

Aesthetic treatments can be life-changing when done right, with realistic expectations, proper aftercare, and a practitioner who prioritizes your safety and satisfaction over profit.

But they’re not magic. They require honesty, investment (financial and time), maintenance, and a willingness to treat your face and skin holistically — not just chase trends or quick fixes.

If you’re ready to approach aesthetics with realistic expectations and a commitment to doing it properly, I’m here to help you every step of the way.
