What is microneedling?

Microneedling aims at stimulate the body’s own collagen and elastin to improve the skin’s texture and appearance. It rejuvenates the skin by producing numerous micro channels in the skin, which encourages the formation of collagen and generates new skin cells.

Microneedling uses tiny, adjustable needles to make controlled punctures in the upper layer of your skin. This sounds scarier than it really is; the needles only penetrate the very top layer of the skin, and numbing cream is used before the treatment to ensure as little discomfort as possible. The ‘trauma’ to the dermis encourages the skin to repair itself by producing new collagen and elastin, and generating new skin cells. This results in thicker, plumper and more youthful skin.

The treatment consists of three or more sessions, spaced out by four weeks between each appointment. Microneedling is minimally invasive and requires no recovery time, however you are advised to follow the after care provided to aid healing.

It’s very normal to experience some redness and swelling for a few days following the treatment, as well as occasional bruising. All patients are given a specially designed post-procedure kit to help you care for your skin immediately after treatment.

Noticeable improvements should be seen in the first few weeks following the treatment session with Along with the completion of the prescribed treatment program, this process is likely to continue over the following months.
