Dermal Filler Correction

Aesthetic treatments are very much in demand. However, with an unregulated industry there are more and more unqualified people able to provide treatments – leading to more complications and unwanted results. Unfortunately, I am seeing patients who have had disappointing results elsewhere and require ‘corrective work’.

One advantage with dermal lip fillers is that they are dissolvable. Lip filler dissolving treatment works by safely and comfortably breaking down the dermal filler. Hyaluronidase is an enzyme which exists naturally in your body. When you get lip fillers normally, low levels of naturally occurring hyaluronidase are the reason they break down over time. By injecting a high concentration of this substance into the lips enables the filler to be broken down more rapidly, and disposed of by the body’s own systems.

If you would like to find out how I can help you, get in touch today.

Why choose corrective treatment?

Adjustment and/or reversal of dermal and lip filler

Cosmetic treatments such as dermal fillers and lip filler are now a common and popular choice for anti-ageing and cosmetic improvement.

Unfortunately, cases of unsatisfactory treatments carried out elsewhere are also increasingly frequent.

More often than not, it’s a simple case that the patient is unhappy with the results and is struggling to get any satisfaction from their provider.

Benefits
  • Correction of migration
  • Correction of uneven or bumpy filler
  • Dissolving overdone filler to obtain natural results
How long does dermal filler reversal take?

The hyaluronidase injections start to work almost straightaway to dissolve unwanted fillers. You can expect to see some improvement during the consultation itself. However, it will take 1-2 days to completely break down the old filler. At this point, you’ll just be seeing the original facial contours.

Where does the dermal filler go after hyaluronidase reversal treatment?

The dermal filler is broken down naturally within the body. It is not physically removed, but will be expelled through normal bodily processes.

Can I get dermal fillers/lip filler after hyaluronidase reversal?

Yes, many patients still want to have fillers and there’s no need for a bad experience to put you off. I just advise leaving it a couple of weeks after the reversal.

Can I get new dermal fillers/lip filler at the same time?

I recommend waiting a couple of weeks after hyaluronidase. This ensures that the enzyme is fully expelled before we introduce new dermal fillers. It also allows your skin to settle and fully recover.

Will it hurt?

I do everything I can to reduce discomfort and make the treatment as pleasant as possible. Numbing cream can be used before the procedure, as well as ice if required. Needles used during the treatment are very small in size. My experience and approach to patient care makes all procedures I do comfortable and safe.

How to prepare

Please ensure you arrive to your appointment make up free.

Ask as many questions as you feel necessary. Im here to help you.

If its your first time, try and stay relaxed and remember – you are here for a reason. It can be an exciting time, working with you to improve something that may be affecting you. Or for the simple reason that you just want a refresh and improve what you’ve already got, whilst still looking natural.

The downtime of treatments can be minimal for most undertaking them, with bruising being the most common risk. Although bruises are only temporary, here are some suggestions to help your experience be the best it can be and how to prepare for your treatment.

To minimize the chance of bruising following injections:

  • Avoid alcohol 48hrs prior to your appointment
  • Consider taking arnica 5-7 days before your appointment
  • Stay well hydrated for 24 hours prior to your appointment

The following medication, this may increase your risk of bruising:

  • Aspirin
  • Ibuprofen/naproxen
  • Vitamin E
  • Fish oil
  • St Johns Wort
  • Ginseng

Please Note: if you have been prescribed medication for a medical condition, please ensure you speak to an appropriate medical professional before stopping medication.

What to expect after treatment

You will start to see an improvement within 2-3 days following treatment, having a full effect at around day 12.

Over this time, you will notice a decrease in muscle movement in the treated area – in turn, reducing the line formation in the area.

You may require a follow up appointment at 2 weeks to review the results of the treatment and see if you require any adjustments. Dose adjustments can be made at this appointment to correct asymmetry or to treat muscles that have not relaxed adequately with the initial dose.

This is covered in the original cost.

The best use of anti-wrinkle treatment is not to let it fully wear off. By doing this you are never allowing the treated muscle to return back to full movement and contraction. When you begin to see muscle movement returning, this is when you should think about having further treatment to ensure you get the most from the desired results

Aftercare

Please ensure that the following aftercare instructions are fully adhered to, to avoid adverse reactions.

It is recommended to use the muscle excessively for the 1st hour following treatment

“Botox binds to receptors on nerve cells to relax muscles, and it is possible that this exercise speeds this binding process,”

You should remain in an upright position for 4 hours following treatment to limit the spread of substance at the injection site.

Use a gentle cleanse and water to clean the face for the following 72hours. Gently dry the treated area. Always make sure the hands are clean before touching the treated area.

Ensure you keep well hydrated following treatment and use creams which hydrate the skin and aid skin healing. Serum antioxidants can help soothe skin and contain properties that promote skin healing.

To ensure a proper healing environment following treatment, it is advisable to avoid the following:

For up to 24hrs:

  • Alcohol consumption
  • Applying make-up
  • Touching or rubbing the treated area
  • Strenuous exercise or activity. Sweating and gym environments may increase harmful bacteria and may cause adverse reactions.

For at least 3 days post treatment:

Do not use any Alpha Hydroxy Acids, Beta Hydroxy Acids, Retinol (vitamin A), Vitamin C (in a low pH formula) or anything perceived as ‘active’ skincare.

For up to 2 weeks:

  • Extreme facials and facial massage
  • Extreme sun exposure
  • UV light
  • Temperatures below 0 degrees
  • Saunas and steam rooms
  • Wearing well fitted garments on the treated area – such as hats

If you have any concerns following your treatment or would like to arrange a follow up appointment, please contact the clinic at your earliest convenience

Kim is extremely talented at what she does and always acts in the most professional manner. I’m very apprehensive about certain treatments but she made me feel completely at ease throughout. My results are fantastic and I have referred people who have had equally as positive experience and results. I would highly recommend and will definitely return.
