Cheek Enhancement
Do you feel as though your face has a lack of definition?
Do you feel your face is ageing prematurely?
Would you like to feel more confident with a more contoured face?
One of the most important face areas that show noticeable ageing signs is the mid face.
As the ageing process kicks in, the skin, bone and soft tissues undergo major changes. Moreover, the ligaments become loose, and fat pads of the face become thinner and start to separate, as a result:
- Cheeks start to look flat or sag
- Jowls start to form along the jawline
- Droopy jawline and neck skin
- Nasolabial Folds (nose to mouth lines) become prominent

- Reduced look of nasolabial folds or smile lines

What causes undefined cheekbones?
As unique individuals, we are all different shapes and sizes. Some people are born with flatter/prominent cheekbones, longer faces, rounder faces, shorter faces. However, ageing also plays a part in changing the shape of our face. As we age, the contours of our faces can begin to change. This can result in less prominent cheekbones. The fat pads under our skin that give our face a plump and more youthful appearance begin to shrink and we lose our natural ability to produce collagen and elastin, resulting in volume loss
What are the benefits of dermal fillers?
Dermal fillers give our skin a boost of hydration, volumizing and restoring common problem areas. They firm up the skin, smoothing out fine lines and wrinkles and make the skin look rejuvenated, creating a youthful glow. Dermal fillers will only be used to give subtle results, enhancing your natural features, making you feel more confident in your own skin.
Are dermal fillers safe?
Dermal fillers are hyaluronic acid-based fillers and have one of the best safety profiles of any injectable treatment, due to their biodegradable nature. They are minimally invasive and safe, if done by an experienced medical professional. As with any procedure, there are possible risks, the most common being post-procedure redness, bruising and swelling. All risks will be discussed on your consultation.
Do dermal fillers hurt?
I do everything I can to reduce discomfort and make the treatment as pleasant as possible. Numbing cream can be used before the procedure, as well as ice if required. Needles used during the treatment are very small in size. My experience and approach to patient care makes all procedures I do comfortable and safe.
How long do dermal fillers last?
Dermal fillers can last anywhere between 9 to 18 months. This usually depends on the type of filler injected, the amount of filler used and the area of the face being treated. It is also affected by how quickly your body naturally breaks down the filler, which will vary from person to person. During our consultation, we can discuss this in detail, taking into consideration your specific needs.
Do dermal fillers have any side effects?
Dermal fillers are minimally invasive and most people can return to their normal life immediately after treatment. However, all treatments pose some risk; the common side effects are redness, swelling and bruising. Allergic reactions are very rare but can occur. If you suffer from cold sores, please let me know before your appointment as it is advisable to start preventive medication before treatment.
Will I look “plastic” or “overdone”?
No. I am committed to achieving exceptional natural-looking results. During your journey with me, I will listen to your concerns and use my experience and medical knowledge to create a treatment plan that will suit you specifically. This means you will never look “fake” or “plastic”, while still achieving the results you desire.
Fillers come in 1ml syringes. Imagine how small 1ml is… around 1/5 of a teaspoon! The results we provide are subtle and will not change the way your face “looks” but rather it will enhance the natural beauty already present.

The downtime of treatments can be minimal for most undertaking them, with bruising being the most common risk. Although bruises are only temporary, here are some suggestions to help your experience be the best it can be and how to prepare for your treatment.
To minimize the chance of bruising following injections:
- Avoid alcohol 48hrs prior to your appointment
- Consider taking arnica 5-7 days before your appointment
- Stay well hydrated for 24 hours prior to your appointment
The following medication, this may increase your risk of bruising:
- Aspirin
- Ibuprofen/naproxen
- Vitamin E
- Fish oil
- St Johns Wort
- Ginseng
Please Note: if you have been prescribed medication for a medical condition, please ensure you speak to an appropriate medical professional before stopping medication.
What to expect after treatment
You will start to see an improvement within 2-3 days following treatment, having a full effect at around day 12.
Over this time, you will notice a decrease in muscle movement in the treated area – in turn, reducing the line formation in the area.
You may require a follow up appointment at 2 weeks to review the results of the treatment and see if you require any adjustments. Dose adjustments can be made at this appointment to correct asymmetry or to treat muscles that have not relaxed adequately with the initial dose.
This is covered in the original cost.
The best use of anti-wrinkle treatment is not to let it fully wear off. By doing this you are never allowing the treated muscle to return back to full movement and contraction. When you begin to see muscle movement returning, this is when you should think about having further treatment to ensure you get the most from the desired results.
Aftercare
Please ensure that the following aftercare instructions are fully adhered to, to avoid adverse reactions.
It is recommended to use the muscle excessively for the 1st hour following treatment
“Botox binds to receptors on nerve cells to relax muscles, and it is possible that this exercise speeds this binding process,”
You should remain in an upright position for 4 hours following treatment to limit the spread of substance at the injection site.
Use a gentle cleanse and water to clean the face for the following 72hours. Gently dry the treated area. Always make sure the hands are clean before touching the treated area.
Ensure you keep well hydrated following treatment and use creams which hydrate the skin and aid skin healing. Serum antioxidants can help soothe skin and contain properties that promote skin healing.
To ensure a proper healing environment following treatment, it is advisable to avoid the following:
For up to 24hrs:
- Alcohol consumption
- Applying make-up
- Touching or rubbing the treated area
- Strenuous exercise or activity. Sweating and gym environments may increase harmful bacteria and may cause adverse reactions.
For at least 3 days post treatment:
Do not use any Alpha Hydroxy Acids, Beta Hydroxy Acids, Retinol (vitamin A), Vitamin C (in a low pH formula) or anything perceived as ‘active’ skincare.
For up to 2 weeks:
- Extreme facials and facial massage
- Extreme sun exposure
- UV light
- Temperatures below 0 degrees
- Saunas and steam rooms
- Wearing well fitted garments on the treated area – such as hats
